About OmniDisplay

History

OmniDisplay was the name given to a fledging software application in 2010. The software was conceptuality developed from the success of OmniTicker, which itself was developed specifically for the Banking industry to display a scrolling stream of ticker symbols and prices. Funding for the development of OmniDisplay was provided by Gary Lowrey, then head of initiostar, a Sales and Marketing Advisory for software and technology businesses. He acquired the software owner, Telefax Data Systems, in the same year and initiostar took over the LED sales and support activities of the company at the same time. initiostar continued to provide engineering support for the Trans-Lux alphanumeric LED displays until that support was no longer needed. initiostar ceased to market LED hardware around 2016 and transitioned the business to be a pure-play software company, in partnership with GDK Software. In December 2022, Gary exited the initiostar sales and marketing business to focus his time on providing OmniDisplay clients with advice and support, working in partnership with GDK Software and AV companies.

Fast Forward

OmniDisplay is today coming of age - the original design approach was to create an application that was truly independent of any hardware, with the exception that the software was aligned to the Microsoft camp. The founding thought was to create a single multi-content stream that could be broadcast in high-definition to any display without the need to scale-up that content. This was achieved by matching the pixel resolution of the target display (on a one-to- one basis) with the content to be published to it. LED technology panels have become high-resolution and the resolution gap between these panels and standard video displays is closing fast. OmniDisplay is an extraordinary simple and cost-effective application for broadcasting content to the latest LED and video displays, no matter what shapes and sizes they come in. For some time, OmniDisplay has had the capability to stream data and information with up to an 8K resolution in a single stream - beyond any practical requirement today.

Heading into 2023 and beyond…..

Today, all software development, support and business operations are managed by GDK Software, now the primary source of all things OmniDisplay. We look forward to continued success with AV providers and clients alike.
Gary Lowrey founded initiostar as a sales and marketing advisory service to software and technology companies in 2002. Focused on software in the Banking, Leasing, Insurance and Media sectors, the company provided leadership, interim management, acquisition and post- acquisition integration services. In 2011, the company acquired Telefax Data Systems. The focus became that company’s digital signage software and initiostar funded the development of OmniDisplay and enhancements to OmniTicker. In 2016, initiostar formed a partnership with GDK Software to manage software development and in 2022, extended that relationship to include day-to-day management for OmniDisplay. initiostar transitioned into retirement in August 2022, but the brand lives on!
Awards and Achievements have been many over 21 years, but one stands out as being unique in its time - initiostar created the Cyber3D start-up partnership with Adobe for its digital 3D technology platform, Adobe Atmosphere. A small team from around the world came together virtually, to delivery some of the first interactive 3D digital environments and games. Cyber3D won London’s 2003 Business Startup of the Year; two years later it achieved a profitable exit.
